Excellent for summer grazing by cows suitable for fattening lambs or drill after cereals for autumn grazing. Seed rate for stubble turnips is 2kg per acre “drilled” or 3kg per acre if broadcast. Summer sown leafy types are sown between April & June, the feeding period for these is between June and September. While Autumn/Winter “Bulbing & Leafy” types are sown between July & September, with a feeding period between September and December. The average freshweight yield in tonnes per hectare is between 38 and 40 tonnes. Giving 8-9% Dry Matter ~ Average dry matter yield being between 3.5 and 4 tonnes per hectare.
