Pond Buffers

Scheme Ref: EE8 ~ Pond Buffers ~ in field ponds 400 points per hectare

The creation of unfertilised buffers around in field ponds can help in preventing fertiliser and other ag~chem materials from entering the pond water. This will help the wildlife to remain healthy. Buffers should be at least 10 metres around the pond.

The inclusion of Cocksfoot in this mixture gives it both winter hardiness and ability to withstand heat and dry conditions. Good tussock forming grasses to encourage the wildlife targeted in the scheme.

This mixture should give good “tussocky” growth ideal to encourage wildlife requiring some cover.
