Betty is a Hybrid WOSR which out performs Royal with a massive yield advantage of 8% in the HGCA North Area. Betty has the highests Gross Output of any Hybrid on the recommended list. All round ES Betty is clearly the Best Hybrid for the Optimum Areas.
ES Astrid remains the highest yielding conventional winter oilseed rape as well as offering the highest rating “8” for resistance to stem canker, highest rating “8” for resistance to lodging, highest rating “8” for stem stiffness and another “8” for shortness of stem. No wonder we say she is the perfect “8”.
With these two varieties to chose from and a market eager to buy the crop the obvious choice is to buy either ES Astrid or ES Betty. There are a large number of buy back contracts for industrial and bio diesel uses to be had for the crops. As we move further into an era where processed oilseed rape is appearing as a growing percentage in every litre of Diesel fuel it makes commercial sense to grow winter oilseed rape.
