The Triumph Grazing Range consists of three mixtures formulated to ensure productive high quality swards.
The varieties used in the Triumph grazing range are chosen for a combination of factors. High yields under grazing management with good WSC (Water Soluble Carbohydrate)(Sugar) content and palatability are vital. Even small differences in D Values and palatability of grazed grass can have a pronounced affect upon animal intake and subsequent consequences in production and liveweight gains. An improvement in D value by one unit can raise animal output by roughly 5%.
We also consider other important attributes such as leafiness, persistency, winter hardiness, as well as resistance to diseases such as Mildew, Rhynchosporium and Crown Rust which can make grass less attractive to stock as well as suppressing yields. Crown Rust is a serious disease problem and with drier summers, both severe infection levels and an increasingly northerly regional spread are much more evident. A not uncommon 20% Crown Rust sward infection can both reduce D value and lower WSC (Water Soluble Carbohydrate) content by almost 4 units (% in dry matter) significantly reducing milk and meat production.
