The importance of correct sowing of Gamecover Crops should not be underestimated. A large number of gamecover mixtures contain semi tropical species such as Maize and therefore the importance of not sowing into a cold seed bed cannot be over emphasised.
As the farm shoot becomes more and more important as a source of revenue it should be treated as importantly as a crop of wheat or of forage maize. With careful thought and planning your gamecover crops will provide a successful season long shoot.
We have suggested sowing dates for the crops we offer in our gamecover range but attention should always be given to local conditions which may make your sowing dates differ from those we suggest. Be aware for example of the differing soil temperatures between the middle of a field and that at the edge of a wood. Heavy clay soils take considerably longer to reach a good sowing temperature for Maize than do lighter more sandy conditions.
