A four year lay for silage or silage/grazing containing Hybrid Ryegrass and Intermediate Perennial Ryegrass with the Swiss variety red clover Milvus which persists and performs exceedingly well over the longer duration. Includes the Hybrid Ryegrass Hymer, an intermediate type, recommended by DARDNI and SAC where in both bodies trials it outyields AberExcel and AberLinnet

Care Management

Bloat awareness - Red Clover presents risks of bloat and management procedures to reduce this risk include:~

• Limiting access/grazing times to stock when first introduced
• Avoid grazing in wet conditions
• Feeding high dry matter forage like hay or straw before turning out
• Using and anti-bloat feed additive

Oestrogen - High levels of phyto-oestrogen, particularly Formononetin, are found in red clover and can cause ovulation problems in ewes. Avoid ewes grazing red clover pre and post tupping or even consuming ryegrass/red clover silage during this period.
