Scheme Ref: EE1 2 metre Buffer Strips on cultivated land ~ 400 points per hectare

2 Metre Margins should be established during the first year of your agreement a two metre buffer strip. Reguar topping during the first year is allowed to encourage the sown species and to discourage weeds. Spot treatment only of “broad leaved weeds” e.g. docks and thistles is allowed following the initial twelve month period.

BGM3 ~ With Cocksfoot and Clover

BGM1 with Cocksfoot.                            300 points per hectare

  • 20% Meadow Fescue
  • 20% Creeping Red Fescue
  • 20% Cocksfoot
  • 20% Timothy
  • 20% Tall Fescue

The inclusion of Cocksfoot in this mixture gives it both winter hardiness and ability to withstand heat and dry conditions.

Sowing rate: 20kg/ha - available in 1 hectare 20kg packs

BGM2 without Cocksfoot                         300 points per hectare        

  • 20% Meadow Fescue
  • 20% Creeping Red Fescue
  • 20% Chewings Fescue
  • 20% Timothy
  • 20% Sheeps Fescue

This mixture should give good “tussocky” growth ideal to encourage wildlife requiring some cover.

BGM3 with Cocksfoot and Clover                 300 points per hectare        

  • 20% Meadow Fescue
  • 20% Creeping Red Fescue
  • 15%  Cocksfoot
  • 20% Timothy
  • 15%  Tall Fescue
  • 5%   Birdsfoot Trefoil
  • 5%   Small White Clover

The inclusion of Birdsfoot Trefoil and Small White Clover will encourage insects to the flowers, this should encourage wild birds who need the insects to feed.
